At GambleGuard, your privacy and anonymity are our top priorities. We understand the sensitive nature of gambling recovery and have designed our platform with privacy at its core. This policy covers the GambleGuard website (gambleguard.net), Chrome Extension, and Commitment Vault.
When you create an account, we collect your email address. Passwords are never stored in plain text. If you sign in with Google (including from the Chrome Extension), we receive your name, email address, and profile photo to create and sync your account. Sign-in is optional — the extension's blocking and support features work fully without an account.
We store your streak data, journal entries, achievements, and calming session logs. This data is linked to your account and never shared with third parties.
Conversations with Streak AI are processed through Azure OpenAI (primary) and Google Gemini (fallback). When you chat with Streak AI, or choose to Analyze a journal entry, the text you write is sent to our servers and processed by these AI providers to generate a supportive response. This text is not used to train AI models. Conversations are stored in your session and can be cleared at any time; journal entries you do not analyze are not transmitted.
When using the Chrome Extension, we record only blocked gambling site attempts — never your general browsing history. This data syncs to your account to provide personalized AI support and track recovery progress.
Vault transactions occur on the Base blockchain and are publicly visible (as with all blockchain transactions). We do NOT have access to your wallet, private keys, or deposited funds. Your wallet address may be stored locally to display your vault status.
Streak AI is powered by a custom-trained model built on Azure OpenAI with Google Gemini as fallback. The AI has been trained and fine-tuned on:
Your personal data is NOT used to train AI models. Your journal entries and conversations are only used in real-time to provide personalized responses, not for model training.
Your data is stored securely using Firebase with industry-standard encryption. We use Firestore Security Rules to ensure you can only access your own data. Journal entries and AI conversations are encrypted at rest.
The GambleGuard Chrome Extension blocks known gambling sites at the network level (using Chrome's declarativeNetRequest) before the page loads, from a built-in list of roughly 207,000 gambling domains. For sites not on that list, the extension reads a small amount of the page's text on your device to decide whether to block it; that text is only sent to our classifier when a site is not already known to us. We do NOT track, store, or transmit your general browsing history.
What we collect: Only the domain names of blocked gambling sites and timestamps.
What we DON'T collect: Your general browsing history, form data, passwords, or stored personal information from the pages you visit. Page text read for classification is used only to label a page and is not retained.
Built-in whitelist: We maintain a list of 40+ recovery resources, gambling help organizations, and our own domains that are NEVER blocked or synced. This includes sites like GamCare, Gamblers Anonymous, NCPG, and gambleguard.net itself.
The Commitment Vault uses smart contracts on the Base blockchain (Ethereum Layer 2). Important privacy considerations:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your recovery journey is yours alone. The only exceptions are:
